Emission Reduction Credit Acquistion

Successful implementation of new projects or modifications to existing operations can hinge on the availability and cost of emission reduction credits necessary to offset the emission increases associated with proposed projects.  ALG staff have worked with clients both to secure existing ERCs as well as collaborating on innovative emission reduction projects developed or sponsored by our clients.  Working closely with the reviewing agencies, ALG staff have secured approvals for emission reduction projects for mobile (off-road, railroad, and marine sources), industrial (point sources), and area emission sources.

Technical Services

  • Engineering and emission analysis to assure proper quantification of actual emissions including:

    • Calculation and reporting of monthly/quarterly/annual emission reductions;​

    • Analysis and quantification of missing data;

    • Auditing of Continuous Emission Monitoring Systems (CEMS)


  • Ongoing support to our larger industrial clients subject to local and regional cap-and-trade programs

Project Experience

ALG has a wide range of experience from creating ERCs to reviewing and validating potential sources of ERCs for use as offsets:

  • Develop emission reduction projects with clients to facilitate ongoing operational needs;

  • Evaluate proposed emission reduction projects relative to existing local, state, and federal regulations to confirm validity of project;

  • Facilitate discussions with ERC brokers to identify sources of potential ERCs for purchase, and evaluate proposed ERC certificates for use as offsets for clients.

Greenhouse Gas Reductions

ALG collaborates with our clients and agency staffs to design, quantify, and implement GHG mitigation programs required to secure pre-construction approvals or CEQA certification. Here our staff leverages technical expertise and direct prior experience in identifying cost-effective and practical GHG reduction options for industrial operations. We also assist our clients and equipment engineers in the integration of GHG reduction technologies into project design, which realizes economic and thermal efficiencies and decreases overall project costs.
