GHG Reporting and Verification

GHG Reporting and Verification

In efforts to address climate change, several states (California, Oregon, and Washington) have developed comprehensive programs that quantify greenhouse gas emissions from industry, defining long-term goals to reduce the climate impact associated with greenhouse gas emissions.  ALG has been accredited as a Verification Body by California Air Resources Board (CARB), Oregon Department of Environmental Quality (ODEQ), and Washington Department of Ecology (Ecology) since the inception of their Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Reporting Programs, having performed over 1,000 verifications for more than 200 separate facilities/entities.

In addition to GHG verification services, ALG also assists facilities in developing comprehensive GHG compliance and reporting programs to meet the state and federal requirements

Sector Accreditations

ALG is qualified to report and verify all types of GHG emission reports submitted to California (CARB), Oregon (ODEQ), and Washington (Ecology).

Our team includes accredited specialists for Washington and California in:

  • Stationary combustion sources;

  • Transactions sources;

  • Oil and Gas Systems:

  • Process sources;

ALG is also accredited under Oregon's Greenhouse Gas Reporting Rule with the following specialties:

  • Electricity Suppliers;

  • Natural Gas Suppliers;

  • Natural Gas Systems;

  • Fuel Suppliers;

  • Process Emissions

Our Strengths

ALG’s verification team members have extensive experience in preparing and auditing greenhouse gas, criteria pollutant, and toxic pollutant emission inventory calculations and reports. Outside of GHG verifications, we have experience in formal and informal comprehensive auditing of facilities to determine compliance status with respect to a wide variety of local, state, and federal environmental regulations.

Industry Experience

While each state’s program is unique, several aspects of the GHG programs developed by California, Oregon, and Washington are shared.  Key among them are annual reporting and verification of GHG emissions from the largest sources.  ALG has performed third-party verifications for:

  • Electricity generation and cogeneration facilities,

  • Electricity transaction entities,

  • Oil and gas facilities,

  • Natural gas and liquified petroleum gas (LPG) importers,

  • Fuel transaction entities,

  • Biomass combustion,

  • Geothermal power production,

  • Cement production,

  • Petroleum refinery facilities,

  • Agricultural producers; and

  • Landfills
